Compassionate Presence

A weekend retreat with Adrianne Ross
October 25-27, 2019

Queen’s House Retreat & Renewal Centre, 601 Taylor Street, Saskatoon
Residential and commuter options available

Retreat starts at 7:00 PM October 25 and ends at 4:00 PM October 27.

This silent retreat will provide a safe space for us to take refuge from the demands and busy-ness of our lives, of media and the climate in which we find ourselves. Whether we are new or experienced practitioners this will be an opportunity to relax, come into gentle, compassionate presence and release some of the difficulties we carry. By cultivating mindful, caring presence, we are able to allow things to be as they are, hold ourselves with compassion, and see more clearly how we might act with skill and effectiveness.

There will be some guided instruction, periods of sitting and walking meditation and opportunities for practice questions and discussion.

Registration fee for meals and accommodation:

  • Residential option: $275 if registered on or before October 11; $305 after that date.
Includes single room, breakfast, lunch and dinner October 26 and breakfast and lunch on October 27.
  • Commuter option: $155 if registered on or before October 11; $185 after that date.
Includes breakfast, lunch and dinner October 26 and breakfast and lunch on October 27.
  • Scholarship support is available, if cost is a barrier.

The retreat fee covers only the retreat costs: teacher travel, food, rental, incidental expenses, etc. Towards the end of the retreat, there is an opportunity for participants to practice generosity through offering financial support to Adrianne, in appreciation.

Why does meditation sound so easy to do and yet seems to be so hard? In this retreat we’ll explore the  obstacles both to our practice and to embodying the dharma in our lives. This exploration can transform these obstacles into a way of welcoming and being present with our whole life. In this silent retreat with alternating sitting and walking practice, there will be some guided meditation and instruction as well as opportunities to ask questions about your practice. This retreat will be suitable for both beginners and experienced practitioners; obstacles arise no matter how long we have been practicing!
