The Wheel of Life is a mandala which illustrates the teachings of the Four Noble Truths and of Dependent Origination – maps of liberation and freedom that we can experience here, now, in this life. Part of the beauty of this teaching is the rich imagery of the mandala, part of which is actually a picture of the mind, and the way the Buddha taught to free it from suffering. This imagery can be a great support for our understanding.

Each participant will receive this map of the mind, and travel with it through one week of practice. This retreat will be anchored by two day retreats 8 days apart: a daylong on Saturday, April 1, and an afternoon session on Sunday, April 9. On the first day, we will get to know the map, then journey with it throughout the week, and on the second afternoon of practice, we will anchor and share our discoveries together.

The retreat has an emphasis on integrating this teaching into our daily lives. This will be supported through:

  • Invitation to daily practice with the retreat group using a group signup through the Insight Timer app
  • Daily email inspiration and practices focusing on the key points of liberation in the map. These emails will be a collaboration between Jeanne and dedicated practitioner Andrea Grzesina
  • One half hour practice talk with Jeanne via Skype, during the week

You may choose to attend just the Saturday daylong, or attend the Saturday daylong and participate in the daily activities, or attend both the Saturday daylong and Sunday afternoon along with doing the daily activities.

For practitioners who are not in Saskatoon, Skype practice talks with Jeanne will be arranged to allow you to participate. You also have the option of a one hour Skype talk with Jeanne in place of the day longs. If there are enough out of town folks, we will try to arrange an online group chat on the final day.

This retreat is suitable for both beginning and experienced practitioners.

This retreat is offered on a dana basis. There will be dana baskets for the retreat expenses, and for the teacher, Jeanne.
