Jeanne Corrigal, our Community Dharma Leader, leads a 30 minute sit every Wednesday evening, followed by a talk and discussion. The last Wednesday of each month, Jeanne leads a lovingkindness meditation. All are welcome.
It is such a joy to be involved with the Saskatoon Insight Meditation Community (SIMC), as the Community Dharma Leader. I began my own Insight practice here when SIMC first began, in 1999, grew up in the dharma here, and have been teaching since 2005. Over the last 8 years I’ve spent about two months a year on retreats or study retreat, and during that time completed Spirit Rock’s Dedicated Practitioner Program, a two year immersion in the teachings, and the two year Community Dharma Leadership Program. I’m also certified as a Mindful Schools Trainer and teach Jon Kabat-Zinn’s Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR).
I’ve studied with teachers who continue to inspire me, including Thich Nhat Hanh, Joseph Goldstein, Sharon Salzberg, Jack Kornfield, James Baraz, Tara Brach, Thanissara and Kittisaro. And I am especially moved by Nature as a meditation teacher, and by lovingkindness. I am grateful to my mentors, Guy Armstrong, co-founder of Spirit Rock, Joanne Broatch, SIMC’s founding teacher, and Adrianne Ross, SIMC’s current guiding teacher. My great joy through all of this is connecting more and more deeply with our innate freedom, and growing in understanding, together. I’m so grateful to have found this path, and to be able to be a part of the leadership team of SIMC.
We all lead this community, together, through the gift of our presence at the sitting group, through bringing treats to metta night, through the years of constant dedication that many of our members have given to our sangha. It is my great joy to be a part of this circle of spiritual friends.
I hope to meet you on the path.
With kindness and joy,
We are pleased to share that Jeanne has been invited into the four-year teacher training program at the Insight Meditation Society, in Barre, MA. Read more about this here.
